Major Upcoming Events:

.   Jul 9, 2015 - Chapter Monthly Meeting.  Scheduled Guest Speaker, Linda Blankenship, National VVA At-Large Board of Directors Member (running for reelection at the VVA National Convention).  We will be presenting Alabama State Council Awards at this meeting.  We hope to have a Gospel Band performing from 1700-1730 while dinner is being served prior to the meeting agenda.  We hope to have a large representation of our membership present for this meeting, please come and join us.  It will be our last meeting prior to our Delegates departing for the VVA National Convention on July 21st.  I still have several Chapter Shirts that were ordered by our membership on the 1st and 2nd Shirt orders, and will have the 14 shirts that were missing from the 2nd order last meeting.  We picked up the 3rd Shirt Order in time for the Jul 9th meeting, and I still have a lot of ordered shirts on hand for members that did not attend the meeting.  Thanks to the DoD Commemorative War Office Staff, and Mr. Larry Brom, we were able to present the new Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins to those of our membership, with HONOR, that had not previously received a pin at our events during April 2015.

.   Jul 21-25 VVA National Convention, Springfield, IL.  Our Chapter is authorized 6 voting delegates to attend this convention (Discussion was held on this matter at our Jul 9, 2015 meeting).  We have now been authorized to fill five (5) more vacant Delegate Positions from other Chapters that decided not to send all of their Delegate allocations based on strength, so we now have a total of 11 voting Delegates attending the National Convention out of 30 total Delegates in the Alabama Delegation, more than 33% of the Alabama Delegation will now be from our Chapter, with eight (8) more of the 30 Delegates coming from Chapter 511 in Athens, the 2nd largest Chapter in the State.  This means nineteen (19) of the 30 Delegates are coming from two (2) of the eleven (11) active chapters in the State of Alabama.  Way to go Richard!!!!!!!  We also anticipate that our Chapter will receive one (1) of the three (3) new VVA National Awards that will go to the top three (3) chapters in percentage of membership growth during the last FY (1Mar14-28Feb15), our Chapter experienced over 30% growth in membership during this time frame.  Our Chapter will also enjoy a reserved table up front during the VVA National Awards Ceremony and Banquet on Saturday, July 25, 2015, thanks to our voting membership at our May 2015 Monthly Chapter Meeting.
